Husband-wife duo Ashok and Jessie Childs learned the fundamentals of woodworking together in their fourth-grade woodshop class at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia. both would later study jewelry making in high school and continue their creative journey studying studio art in college.

Ashok Childs went on to study printmaking, welding, and foundry at the Boston Museum School and Mass College of Art, color theory at the Munson Williams Proctor Institute, and English and American Studies at Hamilton College.

Professionally, Ashok launched his career as a craftsman studying with Luthier Stewart Port in Oakland, CA, Boger Woodworking in Boston, and South Mountain Company in Chilmark, MA. He first set up a piece of custom furniture and millwork studio in Marin County. He has been working in New York since 2008 working for a number of established high-end millwork outfits producing pieces for world-renowned architects and designers.

Jessie Vogelson Childs studied cultural studies in mass media and fine art at Connecticut College and received her M.A. in Film & Television Production from the University of Bristol, UK.

After graduation, she worked for the White House Press Secretary and then National Geographic where she cemented her love of documentary filmmaking. She went on to produce and direct such notable projects as Damages for FX/Sony Pictures and the Academy Award-nominated feature documentary No End In Sight.

Jessie transitioned from filmmaking to millwork design and project management working alongside Ashok and their shop pup Alice.
